10 laps of the Tesco circuit taking it in turns leading out - the same format as with Tom.

Surprisingly busy roads during the fist 5 laps, nearly twice as much traffic as compared to the first session there. Maybe it was because of end of school hols?

A good sess but could be made better perhaps mixed up with short explosive standing start efforts somewhere nearby? Enjoyment factor as compared to Tues nights - I'd give it 3/10. Hate sprinting, can't sprint, can't find an explosive muscle fibre in my body even if it bit me. Going to have a teenage tantrum now so thhrrrrrrrrrrrrr

But it has to be practised. Rolling Eyes

I know that stretch of road - it's where I take William for traffic-free road riding practice!

Really want to make one of these Thursdays soon...

Good work Mr Jones, some solid working going on there.

Oddly I seem to win all my hill climbs too, why aren't we Elites by now?

Being solo last night, went to a different place with the sprint objective still in mind. Between the end of Gatehouse Lane (Burgess Hill end) and the Sportsman pub, specific markers were used to denote the start and end of 12 - 15 second explosive efforts from a slow rolling start. I could get 2 sprint reps in the length of this peice of no-thro road before turing round.
1 x 10 with ~ 30 secs recovery. Was going to do another set but ending up chating to a couple of people I know out dog walking.

Must be going really well coz I won every sprint lol!

In summary, the quiet location worked well to meet the objective and would recommend it for either solo or dual type efforts.

Looks like Greeny has been cursed by the Spirit Of Rowers. i.e. the Mitch 5:45am training regime. affraid Heavens above, we should pray for the poor guy and disperse the curse study

Not me either, wedding based activities curtail cycling shenanigans.

Turned out to be a really good sess last night with Turbo Tom. We tweaked around with the lead out and sprint areas on course to find where it works best and ended up with this.

Start / Finish; Burgess Hill main Tesco Roundabout 1st left down Charles Ave. This is the recovery period all the way round to Park Cameras in York Road.
Left onto Jane Murray Way (40mph limit and fairly quiet). Lead out winds up gradually whilst sprinter sits on. Past the Porsche car showroom continuing to up the tempo and past the last set of flag poles outside CAE. The road rises a little where at this point lead out man raises tempo again ready for the finale. At the 40mph sign, the sprint begins, approx 100m dash to the big white road directional sign. 1 lap finishes at the roundabout to take 1st left, recovery and start again.

Each lap takes ~ 3:30. We did about a dozen laps.

Turbo Tom won every sprint, even after leading out. Not surprising whilst pushing out ~ 1300 Watts. Oh to be 24 again. Great stuff and hope to do it again next week.

Ha ha - what it actually means is getting the house back in order after five days of having it to myself!!

Can't do this evening chaps - combination of too much sorting out to do at home and the after-effects of last night's little session in Soho...
