What should have happened is about three months' hard training beforehand, not a couple of Sunday rides and a pair of turbo sessions!!
I gave absolutely everything I had, but that was because I wasn't fit enough!! I'm not sure Hillsy even bothered to get out of the small ring...
48-odd minutes for the course, which was 12 minutes behind the winning pair (Connall Yates on the front) and at least six minutes behind the Shaun/Sean combo, who breezed past us just after half distance, with Yatesy freewheeling.
Many of the other teams were on full TT rigs, with quite a few in the full skinsiut, pointy helmet and solid carbon rear wheel gear, so we were a bit outgunned to be honest.
I owe Hillsy big time, so no matter how crazy work is I'll set time aside to train big for next year.
